Forsyth County Register of Deeds to Accept Larger Plats for Recording

Effective March 2014, Forsyth County Register of Deeds will accept for recording, plats larger than 18” x 24”. Our office was approached recently by a representative from the North Carolina Society of Surveys (NCSS) asking if we would consider recording these larger plats. Up until now we were only recording 18 x 24 inch plats.

The surveyors of North Carolina are hoping that all counties in NC will begin to allow for recording of these larger plats. Engineering projects are done at 1” = 40’ scale on 24” x 36” sheets. Reducing easement mapping from engineering design drawings on 24” x 36” to 18” x 24” recordable sheets increases production efforts and can increase the clutter on the mapping.

Copies of the larger plats are $3 each, while the 18” x 24” size will remain $2 each. Recording fees are the same for both sizes.
