The Cooperative Extension at North Carolina A&T State University celebrated their 36th annual Small Farms week, March 21-March 26. Small Farms week is a time when small-scale farms/ urban farms are recognized for their efforts to provide fresh produce to their community throughout North Carolina. This year, Forsyth County participated in the annual Small Farms Week Food Drive. Annually, we would collect nonperishable items and donate them to a food bank. This year, we donated a meal to families by collecting non-perishable items for “Extension at the Table”. This year's theme allowed us to collect non-perishable items to provide a Chicken Chili Meal. Our goal was to be able to donate 10 meals. However, due to donations we collected, we were able to provide at least 20 meals (serving 4 to 5 members) to families that attend Kimberely Park Elementary School.
