Program Description:
If you enjoy horticulture, teaching others, and working to improve our community, we hope you will consider applying for the upcoming Extension Master Gardener Volunteer (EMGV) class. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2017.
EMGVs work with Cooperative Extension staff to help educate the public about a variety of gardening and horticulture topics. In order to achieve this, EMGVs must complete both a volunteer internship and an intensive gardening class. To remain certified, EMGVs must commit volunteer and educational hours annually. To learn more and download an application, please visit our website.
Forsyth County EMGVs provide unbiased, research-based education promoting horticultural best practices and environmental stewardship to the public. The program is dedicated to developing excellence in volunteers through continuing education and community engagement.
Forsyth County EMGVs are dedicated to distributing current research-based gardening information to the public through free or highly affordable educational opportunities, increasing environmental awareness, promoting gardening activities, and supporting its volunteers.
EMGVs are able to develop gardening skills, grow in volunteer roles, contribute to projects of their own choosing, and produce the quality of results that make them feel good about investing valuable time and in skills in community projects.
Cost: There is no application fee, though there will be a fee for the course. A limited number of scholarships are available based on need.
