The Nature Environmental Science Team competed in the North Carolina 4-H Horticulture Contest on May 2nd, 2015. These youth dedicated themselves to learning the foundational principles of horticulture and learned to identify 180 different horticultural plants from landscape ornamentals, vegetables, fruits and nuts and flowering annuals and indoor plants. The first place junior team in the state was made up of Alex Arrowood, Andrew Pledger, Jadyn Hooker and Spencer Cook. Forsyth County also had two novice individuals that placed. Luke Arrowood placed second and Ethan Cook placed third.
On Saturday, May 9th, the team competed in the State 4-H Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program or WHEP contest. The second place senior team was made up of Alex and Hope Arrowood, Jacob Kline, and Kade Henderson. The first place junior team inlcuded Spencer Cook, Jadyn Hooker, Lily Knepp and Addy Knepp. Lily was also the top junior individual in the contest and Jacob was second in the individual senior competition.
