Forsyth County 4-H held a camping trip on June 17 & 18th at beautiful Hanging Rock State Park. Everyone worked together to prepare meals and clean-up afterwards as well as helped one another carry belongings to and from vehicles and put up their tents. Youth played exciting games of kickball, hide and go seek, water games and much more. The majority of the group hiked up to the top of Hanging Rock, while some of the younger members hiked down to the beautiful Window Falls.
A fishing workshop was led Friday evening by one of the Park Rangers and although no one caught any fish, the group caught lots of salamanders, a turtle and got to see lots of deer. The Lower Cascades provided a nice swimming hole and a nice place for a watermelon snack.
There is talk of making this an annual 4-H “Family” event. View a slideshow of pictures from the trip.
