Donate

Forsyth County Animal Shelter is a county funded shelter-- our budget allows for basic care and feeding, but doesn't always have much room for the extra areas that our adoptable animals sometimes need.

By donating to our medical fund, you can help support our injured/ill animals with the necessary funds to pay for emergency veterinary care. ALL donations will go specifically to this fund.

Please donate by mailing a check payable to:
"Forsyth County Animal Shelter" and in the memo, write "Animal Shelter Medical Fund".

We are always in need of items for our shelter animals! Below is a wish list of items always needed. You may drop off during public hours or leave them on the benches on our front porch.

Please note the following are items we CANNOT accept:

  • Pillows/comforters
  • Open bags of dog/cat food
  • Retractable leashes
  • Prong collars

Some of our Medical Needs Animals:

Lois came to us as a sweet stray who had recently given birth to puppies and had a double fracture in her leg. We rushed her to our vet who did x-rays, gave her antibiotics and pain meds and put a splint on her leg until she could be scheduled for surgery. Instead of amputating the leg, our vet team felt that they could repair the fractures with plates and screws. We searched and found a rescue who could take her into a medical recovery foster home after her surgery. No one came forward to claim her and her surgery was performed successfully. Lois has been a trooper and will find her forever home!

Miller came in through our FCSO Animal Services team who were called out after an apartment fire broke out and the Winston-Salem Fire Dept. pulled this puppy out from a smoke-filled apartment. "Miller" suffered severe smoke inhalation and was taken to our emergency vet for oxygen treatment, pain meds, IV fluids and antibiotics. He is the sweetest little guy and deserved a chance to live.
