Library Makerspaces Open Lab, reservations offer creative outlet to Library cardholders

Forsyth County Public Library’s Makerspaces are now available for library cardholders to attend Open Lab hours and make private reservations for creative pursuits.

The Library’s Makerspaces at Clemmons Branch Library, Forsyth County Central Library, and Paddison Memorial Branch Library have 3D printers, sewing machines, and other equipment as well as space and worktables for a variety of creative projects. Rules governing Makerspace use and projects are outlined in the Makerspace Policy.

During Open Labs, Library cardholders can use equipment and/or work on self-directed projects like piecing quilts, making vision boards, and other creative pursuits. Access to Makerspace equipment is first come, first served.

Open Lab Hours:

• Central Library: Wednesdays from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
  
• Clemmons Branch: Second Fridays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
  
• Paddison Memorial Branch: last Mondays of the month from 1-4 p.m.
  

Library cardholders (18+) who wish to schedule up to three hours in a Makerspace can request a reservation through the Library’s room reservation system. After requesting a reservation, a Library employee will follow up to confirm the time, equipment, project, and schedule an equipment training session (if necessary).

Forsyth County Public Library cards are free and available to Forsyth County residents and property owners, Forsyth County Government employees, including WS/FCS, and residents in a North Carolina county with reciprocal borrowing privileges (Alleghany, Davidson, Davie, Guilford, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin).
